Gaon Ki Beti Yojana 2026: For a long time, I have seen bright, ambitious girls in our villages stop their education right after school. It’s rarely for a lack of talent; it’s almost always because the cost of “going to the city” for college feels like a burden their families can’t carry.
The Gaon Ki Beti Yojana, run by the Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Department, is designed to be that bridge. It isn’t just a government scheme; it’s a recognition of the “Daughter of the Village” (Gaon Ki Beti) who has proven her merit. If you or someone you know has recently cleared Class 12 with good marks, this scholarship is the first step toward a university degree.

What is the Gaon Ki Beti Yojana?
Launched in 2005, this scheme provides financial assistance to rural girl students who excel in their studies. The goal is simple: ensure that “First Division” girls from every village can afford books, travel, and college fees.
The Benefit Amount
-
Conventional Courses (BA, BSc, BCom): ₹500 per month for 10 months (Total: ₹5,000 per year).
-
Technical/Medical Courses (Engineering, MBBS, Nursing): ₹750 per month for 10 months (Total: ₹7,500 per year).
Are You Eligible? (Checklist)
From my own experiences, if you don’t complete even one of these minor requirements, your application can remain in “Pending” status for months.
• Gender: Only female applicants can apply for this scheme.
• Residency: The applicant must be a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh and must reside in the rural area.
• Merit: The applicant must have cleared their class 12th examinations with at least 60% marks (First Division).
• Enrollment: The applicant must be enrolled in any graduation course in any recognized government or private college.
• The “Village Certificate”: The applicant must have a “Gaon Ki Beti” certificate issued by their Gram Panchayat or Janpad.

Don’t wait for the deadline to start gathering these. In the 2025-26 cycle, digital verification is stricter than ever.

How to Apply: The Practical Workflow
Most students make the mistake of going to a cyber cafe and letting the operator fill in everything without checking. I highly recommend being present during the process.
Step 1: Registration
Visit the MP Scholarship Portal 2.0. If you are a new student, click on “New Registration.” Use your Samagra ID to fetch your details.
Step 2: KYC Verification
Your Aadhaar e-KYC is mandatory. You will receive an OTP on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. If your number isn’t linked, visit a nearby Aadhaar center first—you cannot skip this.
Step 3: Filling the Form
You will need your College Code and Course Code. You can find these using the “Know Your Code” search tool on the portal. Enter your Class 12 roll number and board details carefully.
Step 4: Uploading and Locking
Upload your photo (less than 100 KB) and the required certificates. Once everything is filled, “Lock” your application. Note: Once locked, you cannot edit it without a long departmental process.
Step 5: Submission to College
Print two copies of the application. Submit one to your college’s scholarship clerk along with photocopies of your documents. The college Principal must approve your application online for the money to be released.
Common Mistakes & Solutions
| Mistake | Fix |
| Aadhaar Not Seeded | The money will bounce even if approved. Go to your bank and ask for “Aadhaar Mapping for DBT.” |
| Incorrect College Code | If you select the wrong college, your form goes to the wrong Principal. Double-check your admission receipt for the exact college name. |
| Expired Income Certificate | Ensure your income certificate is current (usually less than 3 years old). |
| Missing the Renewal | If you got the scholarship in 1st year, you must apply for Renewal in 2nd and 3rd year. It is not automatic. |
